My Favorite Poem

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is my favorite poem. I love it because it speaks to the challenge of making choices in a world where society often expects us all to follow the same path. Throughout my life, I have made decisions that diverge from the norm, and at times, this has caused others to view me differently. It hasn’t always been easy to take an unconventional route, stepping into the unknown, but it has been incredibly fulfilling to see where life has led me.

As a young girl, I dreamed of becoming a professional athlete, especially after earning a college scholarship. However, when my athletic career in college didn’t unfold the way I had imagined, I realized that, despite the unexpected turns, I was still grateful for the lessons learned. Those experiences shaped me, teaching resilience and opening doors I never anticipated.

This poem reminds me that we are all on different journeys, and while the road less traveled may be challenging, it is often the most rewarding. Trusting our intuition allows us to lead with our unique gifts and create a meaningful life that aligns with our purpose.

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
